#109 | Camp Chairs Suck… with Jacob Younger

April 6th, 2021

Jacob Younger is back on the show for a pretty goofy episode. We each go over a list of backpacking items that we would RATHER carry than a Camp Chair. If you enjoy listening to Ultralight backpackers feel much more enlightened than they actually are, this is the episode for you :)

#106 | The Bizarre World of Backpacking YouTubers with the Schill Brothers

March 2nd, 2021

The Schill Brothers are one of my favorite backpacking YouTube channels because they like to goof around and talk smack almost as much as I do. We didn't really have a plan for this episode, I figured we could just start yappin' away and have no trouble going for an hour... turns out I was right! We talk about the weird quirks of the backpacking YouTube world, sponsorships, and they tell a funny story at the end about an unnecessary search-and-rescue call.

After getting off the Appalachian Trail last year, Taylor is going to be back at it again this year, leaving in just a few days. We talk about what she is excited for, what she is nervous for, and I find a few chances to reminisce about my Appalachian Trail thru hike as well.

#103 | A Harrowing Reminder of what can go Wrong on the PCT (and other trails) with Doug Laher

February 2nd, 2021

Trevor Laher passed away while attempting a thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in March of 2020. Doug joins me in this episode to talk about Trevor's legacy, the accident, and what we can all learn from it.

January 26th, 2021

Troy Zohner (Tomcat) joins the show to talk all things thru hiking, peak-bagging, and backpacking. He hiked the Appalachian Trail in 1999, and then went on to complete and attempt numerous other hikes. If you name it, there is a good chance Tomcat has done it!

#101 | How to Solve the Adirondack’s Overuse Problem with James Appleton

January 5th, 2021

James Appleton, host of The 46 of 46 Podcast comes on for his second Trail Tales episode. We spent most of this episode talking about the 'overuse' issue in the Adirondack High Peaks....although calling it such is a massive simplification. James lives in the Adirondack Park, and thus has some unique and valuable views on the subject. Even if you do not hike in the Adirondacks, I think there is a lot to learn in this episode, especially as public hiking trails have started to see an increase in traffic over the years.
